Big Game Treestands

I am thrilled to announce that I have just signed a sponsorship agreement with Big Game Treestands. Big Game Treestands products have been recognized with a variety of annual awards including the 2012 Bowhunting World Reader's Choice and Inside Archery Best Buy Award in 2011. In addition to high quality, affordable treestands, Big Game also produces ground blinds, Eyecon Trail cameras, and many hunting accesories.

I'll be joining a nation-wide team of 6 pro-staffers, including hunting and MMA celebrity Tim Sylvia. If you follow MMA or have seen some of the later Drury Outdoors episodes, you've probably seen Tim. The Drurys and Pat and Nicole from DrivenTV, both on the Outdoor Channel, use Big Game Treestands.



I killed my very first Whitetail while sitting in a Big Game ladderstand, and that's why it's truly an honor for me to be working with them now. In addition to bringing us 6 guys on as Pro Staff, Big Game is really ramping up their advertisement on the Outdoor Channel, and also sponsoring racing teams Dollansky Racing and Swindell Motorsports. This is shaping up to be a big year for Big Game Treestands and I look forward to working with them in years to come!

I had just got out of the truck and started to get my gear together when I heard the bugle of a bull elk on the ridge behind me.  "He's right there!" I whispered to my dad as I hurriedly threw on my pack and grabbed my bow. Gear Review - Bowtech Insanity CPX

A while back I traded my Hoyt Maxxis for a 2012 Bowtech Insanity CPX. After setting up the new bow with my trusty Spot Hogg sight, QAD rest and Doinker stabilizer, I took it out to a 3D range for a test drive. It didn’t take long to realize that it’s a shooter. My first bow was a Hoyt ViperTec, a 2004 model. I spent countless hours shooting that thing and it served very well as an introductory tool to the wonderful world of archery. From that first bow, I was a Hoyt “fan boy.” To me, Hoyt bows just felt right, and I saw no reason to change. I shot a few other bows, but none of them impressed me enough to leave my beloved Hoyts. Hoyts aren’t the fastest, but I grouped pretty good, and took a few animals and a 3D trophy plaque with a Hoyt in hand. After shooting a Bowtech Insanity CPXL at an archery shop, I began to feel like I could up my game by shooting a faster bow. Quail Hunting at Buckeyes Plantation

The weather here in Georgia, and the rest of the country for that matter, has been downright nice this year.  It's been unseasonably warm, and forecasters always predict a miserable summer after such a pleasant winter.  According to the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) January 2012 was the fourth warmest January on record in the United States.  In addition, several states have had very little snowfall, and this threatens them with a dry Summer.  Nevertheless, getting out in the outdoors is a lot more pleasant when the temps are this comfortable.  Today I went on my first ever Quail Hunt. Along with my friends Jon Gissendaner and Mark Jeffries, and a friend of Mark's called "Paw Pat," I hunted quail and chukkar at Buckeyes Plantation in Jersey, GA.
