New Partnerships for 2017

I'm very excited to announce the addition of a couple of new companies I will be working with in 2017. These will be in addition to my partnership with Muddy Outdoors and my asscociations with Maven Optics and Kuiu Ultralight hunting through my work with HunterVids.



The first is a pro staff position with Feradyne Outdoors. I've been using many of these products for several years, and almost all of my archery kills have been with Rage and Muzzy broadheads, so I'm very excited to be representing these companies. The other brands that this opportunity brings are icing on the cake. Look for written and video reviews on these products over the coming months.

I am also now a member of the Bison Coolers Field Staff. High-end coolers have gained a huge market share over the past few years, and with good reason. These types of coolers are especially great for hunters due to their ability to keep ice for days and elminate trips out of the mountains. Bison Coolers are a great product and proudly made in the USA. I am looking forward to using them for all of my adventures from now on.

I had just got out of the truck and started to get my gear together when I heard the bugle of a bull elk on the ridge behind me.  "He's right there!" I whispered to my dad as I hurriedly threw on my pack and grabbed my bow. It wasn't quite daylight yet so I used the cover of darkness to work my way up the hill to try and get into position, cow-calling as I went. Gear Review - Bowtech Insanity CPX

A while back I traded my Hoyt Maxxis for a 2012 Bowtech Insanity CPX. After setting up the new bow with my trusty Spot Hogg sight, QAD rest and Doinker stabilizer, I took it out to a 3D range for a test drive. It didn’t take long to realize that it’s a shooter. My first bow was a Hoyt ViperTec, a 2004 model. I spent countless hours shooting that thing and it served very well as an introductory tool to the wonderful world of archery. From that first bow, I was a Hoyt “fan boy.” To me, Hoyt bows just felt right, and I saw no reason to change. I shot a few other bows, but none of them impressed me enough to leave my beloved Hoyts. Hoyts aren’t the fastest, but I grouped pretty good, and took a few animals and a 3D trophy plaque with a Hoyt in hand. Quail Hunting at Buckeyes Plantation

The weather here in Georgia, and the rest of the country for that matter, has been downright nice this year.  It's been unseasonably warm, and forecasters always predict a miserable summer after such a pleasant winter.  According to the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) January 2012 was the fourth warmest January on record in the United States.  In addition, several states have had very little snowfall, and this threatens them with a dry Summer.  Nevertheless, getting out in the outdoors is a lot more pleasant when the temps are this comfortable.  Today I went on my first ever Quail Hunt. Along with my friends Jon Gissendaner and Mark Jeffries, and a friend of Mark's called "Paw Pat," I hunted quail and chukkar at Buckeyes Plantation in Jersey, GA.
